Mark Kozel (Managing Director) has been actively involved in management for nearly 3 decades. For almost 20 years, he held various marketing management positions with Curtis Industries, Inc. an international distributor of replacement parts to the automotive aftermarket, industrial maintenance market and retail hardware market. During his tenure there, Mark managed the international marketing, incentive program and communication functions.
Mark then moved to a national automobile rental firm as the Managing Director of a $2 million marketing services subsidiary. Mark led the effort to automate this operation, which dramatically increased accuracy, order fill-rate and on-time deliveries. He also substantially increased the value-added services this division handled. Finally, he directed the public and investor relations efforts for the parent organization and also served as the company spokesperson.
Mark joined The Parkland Group in 1994 and chairs the Bankruptcy and Liquidation practice area. Since joining the firm he has led the workout negotiations for a $120 million retail company in bankruptcy, involving negotiating settlements with over 700 creditors across the United States and Canada. In addition, Mark negotiated settlements with landlords and other creditors, and administered the preference claim collection process for this account. Mark's bankruptcy work, both on the Debtor side and as assistant to various Chapter 11 trustees, has included engagements in the industrial, manufacturing, distribution, and transportation industries. Mark's liquidation experience, coupled with his familiarity with applicable laws, has enhanced the recoveries for secured creditors. He has also acted as a court-appointed Receiver.
Mark has also been involved in successful turnaround engagements in a variety of industries including construction, health clubs, software, electronics and printing. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association.
