Dan Kiehl (Managing Director) has over 16 years experience as an operations, productivity and organizational specialist. He joined The Parkland Group, Inc. in 1996 to provide specific expertise in productivity enhancement, lean manufacturing and other world class manufacturing techniques.
Dan recently assisted a $45 million manufacturing operation decrease inventory by $4 million and reduce scrap by 60% by instituting a build-to-order cell manufacturing process. He helped a metal stamping and fabricating operation increase productivity by 50%, achieve 98% on-time delivery, and improve the accuracy of its MRP and costing systems. These improvements permitted the consolidation of two plants into one, reducing floor space requirements by 60%. Dan also recently assisted a metal fabricator institute a job costing system.
Prior to joining Parkland, Dan was an independent manufacturing consultant working in a variety of industries ranging from steel to electronic components. As an independent consultant, Dan focused on implementing action plans to significantly improve business performance on the shop floor level.
Prior to his consulting career, Dan was an Operations Manager at United Parcel Service of America, where he learned UPS's leading edge approach to productivity enhancement and continuous improvement. Prior to that, he spent 3 years in United States Navy.
Dan has a B.S. in business administration from the University of Akron. Dan is a six-sigma black belt and has participated in and taught numerous workshops including shop floor/office Kaizen, set-up reduction and 5S. Dan is also a Regional Board member for the Association of Manufacturing Excellence.
